The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology was established in 2013 in Bangalore, Karnataka. It’s a private, co-educational institute that aims to combine the knowledge of ancient Ayurveda with modern Science and Technology.
The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, popularly known as TDU University, establishes itself as an innovation-centric university that focuses mainly on designing and delivering research and education for aspiring candidates.
TDU University envisions a change in Ayurveda, Natural and Social Sciences, and Technology. The university believes in following the Honesty, Excellence, Empathy, and Dependability (HEED) value to the maximum extent. With its innovative methods, TDU focuses on social transformation that is aligned in emerging futuristic needs and necessities and ensures academic excellence for aspiring candidates.
TDU today has the core strength to provide unique opportunities to the students and researchers. It helps them learn, explore, and discover trans-disciplinary knowledge in Ayurveda and Biology, focusing on health sciences interface. TDU University has faculty and infrastructure that guides the eligible and interested researchers to their goals.

The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology has good hostel facilities for the students who wish to stay on campus for the entire duration of their course. Separate hostel blocks for both girls and boys are available at the campus. The TDU University has a peaceful environment with 5 acres of land that is fully landscaped by Medicinal Plants which will assist the research scholars and students for their education and research.

The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology has a fraternal relationship with the Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (I-AIM) since TDU and I-IAM are managed under FRLHT Trust. The I-AIM Healthcare Centre campus is landscaped with over 1200 species of medicinal plants and has 12 speciality departments that are managed by expert clinicians guided by experienced and seasoned professionals.
I-AIM has around 10 Senior Doctors, 15 Medical Officers, 40 Therapists, 20 Nurses, and with a total strength of close to 150 people. I-AIM is a 100 bedded hospital that is equipped with accommodation facilities that are suitable for all strata of society beginning from General ward, Semi-Private, Private, Semi-deluxe, Deluxe, and Suite.
The Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Medical Heritage Library at TDU University aims at providing information sources related to various Indian Medical Heritage. The library has many titles and resources that create a unique collection necessary for students, scholars, and the research community. TDU University library has over 8,600 books in its collection that are related to Indian Medical heritage.
The books include diverse subject areas such as Philosophy, Psychology, Conservation, Social Sciences, Science, Flora, Medicinal Plants, Medicine and Health, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani, Traditional Remedies, Agriculture, Forestry, Gardening, Veterinary Science, Etc.
Currently, TDU is yet to expand its collections with multi-disciplinary resources from Biomedicine, Integrative health sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Performing and Fine Arts, Engineering and Management.
The Herbarium and Raw Drug Repository on Medicinal plants are used in the Indian System of Medicine. TDU facilitates to assist the authentic identity of medicinal plants, especially in the form of a repository of the natural resources used by the Indian systems of medicine.
These are in the form of Herbarium and Raw Drug samples housed in state-of-the-art facilities provided by the university. The Botanical Drugs compromises of Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flower, Fruit, Seed, Root and Rhizome, Stem and Leaves, Fruit and Seed, Stem Bark, Root Bark, Heart Wood, etc have been classified on the most scientific and modern lines. This enhances its significance as a conservation research facility.
The Medplan Conservatory Society is a publication wing of the Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT) management. It is a store that is a gateway for Healthy Living in a Natural way. The store has Books, Posters, and CDs that are published by TDU through its projects, or subscribe to Heritage Amruth magazine.
The institute has more than 17,000 medical manuscripts that belong to Ayurveda apart from Siddha, Folk Medicine, and Unani. It has a Digital Repository of around 5,000 valuable Books and Ancient Manuscripts along with basic search facilities.
TDU also offers courses for Training in Medical Manuscriptology. It has been developed as a nodal centre for pioneering programs on Ayurveda. The Management (FRLHT-TDU) along with the support of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and Ministry of Health, Government of Karnataka has undertaken the task of cataloguing and digitizing all the Medical Manuscripts available.

Candidates applying for the M.Sc program must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from a UGC recognized university. Those who have pursued a bachelor’s degree in Traditional Health Sciences, Biomedicine, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Environment Studies, Design, Architecture, Performing and Fine Arts, Engineering, Management, and Policy Studies can also apply for the program.

Aspirants for the Ph.D must have passed a Master's degree or a professional degree program or M.Phil program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent. A relaxation of 5% marks may be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently-Abled, and other categories of candidates.
Candidates having an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency can also apply for the program.

Candidates applying for M.Sc at TDU University must be able to carry out research and have adequate training and ability to pursue the proposed course of study.
Following are some of the guidelines for the admission process:
1. Candidates applying for the M.Sc program must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from a UGC recognized university.
2. Those who have pursued Traditional Health Sciences, Biomedicine, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Environment Studies, Design, Architecture, Performing and Fine Arts, Engineering, Management, and Policy Studies can also apply for the program.
3. Candidates who have successfully cleared GATE, GRE, UGC/ CSIR NET, DBT (JRF), ICMR, DST (INSPIRE), or any other equivalent postgraduate entrance exams will be invited directly for a Personal Interview before an admission committee.
4. Those who have not taken any entrance exams are invited to make a ‘Statement of Purpose’ presentation before the admission committee.
5. A personal interview will be conducted for all the students who have passed the entrance assessment. The TDU university does not offer distance education mode.
The candidates applying for the TDU admissions for Ph.D program shall go through a 2-stage process:
1. The applying candidates for the Ph.D program must have to pass an Entrance Assessment Test with a qualifying mark of 50%. The Entrance test syllabus shall consist of 50% of Research Methodology and 50% shall be subject-specific.
2. The entrance test will not be applicable for the candidates who have qualified UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship Holder.
3. For the candidates who have cleared the Entrance Test/ National Qualifying Examination, an Interview or a Viva will be organized. The candidates are necessarily required to discuss their Research Interest through a presentation before a duly constituted Research Committee.
The Interview or Viva shall also consider the following aspects:
1. Aspirants must possess the competence for the proposed research.
2. The research work can be undertaken at TDU or other Partner Research Institution.
3. The area of research can contribute to New or Additional Knowledge.
4. The proposed area of research is transdisciplinary.
5. The candidates must obtain the research supervisor’s consent.
TDU also takes into account the reservation policy of the Central and the State Government for its admission process.
TDU University has the provision to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections. The university provides help to the eligible candidates in the form of scholarships or TDU Fees concession.
The percentage of concessions is decided by the authorities from time to time. Financial assistance is decided at the time of admission.
The university offers a small number of scholarships of Rs. 10,000 per month for students who have been selected through a competitive procedure.
