The Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) was established under the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University Act in 2004. It was established exclusively for the development of education, learning, and research. It provides various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs for eligible candidates.
Karnataka Veterinary University also offers Ph.D. programs with multiple specializations. The university was established after realizing the loss of two decades of prime development in agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, etc. KVAFSU, being an autonomous academic institute, is governed by the Board of Management that regulates the university policies following the provision of acts and statutes.
KVAFSU, Bidar, ensures to extend its service to the farmers of the country in the form of saving animal lives. It strives to provide leadership in teaching and research education services related to veterinary, animal sciences, dairy sciences, fisheries, etc.
Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University campuses are located in multiple locations in the state of Karnataka. Its constituent Veterinary colleges have spread across various districts of the state. The KVAFSU, Bidar, has various colleges under its aegis, such as:
The KVAFSU library plays a vital role in the collection and development of veterinary science-related information. It is processed in the form of books, e-books, and journals. It has been computerized by using E-Library software and offers OPAC facilities. It was established in 1984. It aims to support the educational and research programs of the university by providing access to information consistent with the present.
Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University has laboratories for conducting all the research related to the studies. It is equipped well with all the equipment and resources necessary for conducting the research.

Candidates applying for the program must have completed a 10+2/ II PUC or equivalent exam from a recognized institute or board. They must have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
Candidates must have completed 10+2/ II PUC or equivalent from a recognized institute or board. They must have obtained at least 50% (40% for reserved category candidates) aggregate marks in the qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as mandatory subjects. Applicants must have appeared and qualified in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). They must have completed 17 years of age as of 31st December on the year of admission at Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University.

Following are the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University scholarships offered for the candidates based on their academic performances:
URMS scholarships are awarded for all the PG 1st year eligible candidates for each subject under the Master and Doctoral programs. This scholarship may not be applicable if the candidate receives other scholarships or fellowships. Candidates are selected based on their OGPA marks or percentage obtained in the qualifying exam. The scholarship will continue based on the CGPA marks secured by the candidates in the 1st year final exam.
Student aid funds offer financial assistance for the candidates who are in need. This scholarship is provided for the candidate in the form of Tuition, Hostel, Exam fees, providing Clothing, covering Medical Expenses, etc. The annual income of the candidate's parents or guardians is subject to be notified by the Government of Karnataka. This aid depends on the OGPA secured by them in the qualifying exam.
Candidates whose CGPA is less than 7.00 are not eligible to apply. All the student aids necessary for the students shall be given on request.
