The Government of Karnataka decided to provide education and research in legal studies through systematic instruction, teaching, and training students. To achieve the goal, the Karnataka government established the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) in 2009 and institutionalized law schooling in Karnataka. The university was established under the Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009.
The institute aims to provide the study and research of law through systematic instruction, teaching, and training. The Karnataka State Law University ensures to provide quality higher education for the students to attain global standards. It is accredited ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
It also strives to equip students with skills and abilities, making them ready for profession and employment. The KLSU University is located in a sprawling 50 acres campus with various facilities offered for the candidates. The Karnataka Law University ranking has been consistently among the top universities for its excellent infrastructural and academic facilities.

The Karnataka State Law University Library was established in August 2009 to facilitate professional education and fulfill the research needs of the faculty and student community. The library houses more than 20,000 collections of books covering all the KSLU Syllabus. The premises has two floors that are equipped with reading rooms. It also has textbooks, reference books, newspapers, and magazines. In addition, it provides access to four national and international databases. The university library is committed to providing library and information services, helping the faculty and the students in achieving their goals through proper education.
The computer lab is situated in the university library building. It has around 50 computers that are accessible to the students and the faculty.
The university provides sports facilities for eligible and interested students. It conducts and takes part in multiple sports activities at various levels.

Candidates applying for the program must have completed a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 45% aggregate marks (40% for students belonging to reserved categories) from a recognized university.
Applicants must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with 45% aggregate marks (40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) from a recognized institute or board.
Students applying for the KSLU University’s Integrated LLB (Hons.) courses must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with 45% aggregate marks (40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) from a recognized institute or board.
