The syllabus for Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Machine Design is built for the duration of the course, split into four semesters. The subjects covered in the first year are Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Thermodynamics, IC Engines, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and Thermal Measurements & Process Control. The third and fourth semesters of the second year is the project phase where the students are required to complete their internships and projects.

Candidates must have passed BE/ B.Tech in Tool Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering & Production Engineering/ Automobile Engineering with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of all the semesters/ years of the degree examination or passed the Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE) exam in the appropriate branch (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates). They should have cleared the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)/ Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in Mechanical Engineering with qualifying marks.
